Rachel Crowder
Class of 2008
School Placement Officer

" I attended Meadowhead Language College between 2003-2008. I then moved on to attend King Ecgbert 6th Form and achieved 4 A-levels in English Language, Sociology, Biology and Sport.

Recognising my love for sport I applied for a place on the BA Honours Sport and Community Development course at Sheffield Hallam University. During this time I worked part time at Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme to gain vital and valuable experience. After three years of hard work and dedication to my University studies I graduated in 2014 with a 2:1 which made it possible for me to successfully be hired by SWFCCP as Assistant NCS Co-ordinator.

The NCS (National Citizen Service) is a community based programme aimed at 15-17 year olds. As a government backed programme to help empower young people in their communities the NCS sees young people progress and develop from a school leaver into the working world.

I now have a new job as School Placement Officer with the Skills Made Easy team at Sheffiedl City Council. This is a brand new role, informing Y11, Y12 & Y13 students of their apprenticeship opportunities."

We ask our former students for one piece of advice which they would give to themselves as a 16 year old. Rachel's is:

"Work hard and put the effort into your studies, but enjoy yourself at the same time. Find your passion and follow your dream because anything is possible if you put your mind to it."
