Each year at school, students will have the opportunity to hear from employers about the world of work and the skills required. This is offered predominantly through Futures Week for all year groups in the Spring term, but also through mock interviews in Y10 and Y13 and work experience in Y10 and Y12. We also bring in employer speakers from a range of industries and offer students the opportunity to take part in employer-supported projects including Big Challenge, Next Gen Leaders Project and the Turing Scheme.
Y10 students taking part in a mock interview with an employer designed to give them a real-world experience. They work on a CV and prepare for the interview in Ethics lessons.
Students receive employer feedback on their approach to the interview and their CV. Students report that they find this activity particularly helpful in feeling prepared for the future.
Around 90 different employers/employees/freelance staff from a wide range of sectors give their time to support Meadowhead students at our big Employer Fair. Students hear about a wide variety of jobs, including broadcast journalism, careers in sport, accountancy, games development, engineering, working in the charity sector, healthcare and the creative industries.
