DofE 2014
In September 2013, Y10 students were invited to attend a DofE information session to find out exactly what is involved. Since then, there have been comprehensive training sessions each week. These have included how to pitch a tent, first aid and the safe use of the cooking stoves.
The 2013/14 Duke of Edinburgh's Award Bronze practice took place over two weekends in May. All students had to deal with different but equally challenging weather conditions from flooding and very strong winds one weekend to very hot and uncomfortable conditions the next. The days were spent walking, covering 25km and then one night camping; very noisy peacocks at the site also had to be endured! Congratulations to all.
This was very good practice for the qualifying expedition in June!
