Y9 vs Silverdale

The first of Meadowhead Y9’s two matches this week was a league match against Silverdale School. Although it was a bobbly pitch, Meadowhead were passing the ball around well and the first goal came when Louis Hutchinson unselfishly passed to Ben Hulton who reacted well to score from a yard out.

After that, Meadowhead were in control. Harry Grimmer scored a quick-fire double at the end of the first half to put the game well out of doubt only half way through. In the second half, Meadowhead began to settle down slightly, well aware of the match they needed to save their legs for the following day but still bagged another three goals with a further two goals from Ben Hulton, both from close range, and another hat-trick from on-fire forward Harry Grimmer to boost our goal difference for the league.

The visitors did pull a goal back and it was a true wonder-goal which Ted Claxton could do nothing about, but Meadowhead were more than comfortable in the win and set up the league tie with King Ecgberts the next day perfectly.
