Sheffield Cup Final

In the final of the Sheffield Cup and the deciding match to see who would win the league, it was the biggest game of the season for Meadowhead’s Y10s so far. The first half began scrappily but the second half burst into life when the opposition striker directed a free-kick into the bottom corner to put Ecclesfield 1-0 up.

With ten minutes left, it looked like Ecclesfield would hold onto the win but Ben Hulton’s scuffed shot fell perfectly for Matt Beck to score from six yards out. Then moments later, Ben Hulton was brought down to win a penalty and Jack Morton blasted it into the top corner to surely seal the victory.

However, in the last minute, Ecclesfield piled on the pressure and scored from a long throw, forcing the match into extra time. The match looked destined for the third encounter in a penalty shootout when a moment of magic from Caelen Bradley in stoppage time earned a magnificent win for Meadowhead with a close range right-footed drilled effort, sending the players and fans crazy.
