Sheffield Federation for School Sports Awards Evening

The Dream Team 2010-2015

I recently nominated this team for a Special Achievement Award at the 120th SFSS Presentation Evening. I have managed the team for 5 years and in that time they have been an outstanding group of players to coach and work with. They are an extremely talented group of students, any member of staff that has had the pleasure of watching them will tell you that they play football the way it is meant to be played – committed, high tempo, passing on the floor, little triangles, one/two’s, off the ball movement, and not afraid to get stuck in when required.

Their list of achievements is staggering, and they were rightly recognised for this by winning the award.

This team completed the treble; treble of local competitions by the end of Y9, winning every single league game in the process. They were also crowned Sheffield, South Yorkshire, and North of England 5-a-side champions in Y7 before finishing 3rd in the National Finals.

This run continued through Y10, the boys won every single league game, becoming league champions once again.

Before getting knocked out of the cup by Notre Dame at the end of Y10, if you take into account last all of the league wins and the 2 cup runs, I believe that this team recorded in the region of 100 straight victories in all football matches played in South Yorkshire, between September 2010 (Y7) and March 2014 (Y10).

This is phenomenal achievement, and arguably the most successful record of any Sheffield schools side ever.

The Squad:

Tyler Smith, Tom Cropper, Ben Beever, Josh Farnsworth, Liam Beighton, Curtis Unwin, Lewis Currie, Sam Gibson, Dan Beck, Sam Smith, Luke Sanderson, Sam Cutts, James Hastings, Callum Semple, George Barnes, Tyler Bates, Tom Burbeary, Joe Rowley, Harvey Gilmour, Jonathan Cooper.

The Pauline Fidler Award

Congratulations to James Hastings who received the Pauline Fiddler Award at the evening for his impeccable attitude and his outstanding commitment to Sheffield Schools football.

I am very proud of all the lads and their achievements. I will certainly miss coaching and managing this team, and I wish them every luck in the future.

Mr Allen.
