National Cup R4 Y10 vs Sawnchurch

In the fourth round of the national cup, Meadowhead’s Y10s hosted Sawnchurch Academy from Mansfield. Their opponents were playing fast flowing passing football but Meadowhead worked their socks off in all positions across the pitch, closing the ball down and forcing their Mansfield opponents into mistakes.

The first goal came after an excellent Harry Grimmer pass found Louis Hutchinson, who swivelled and nailed a rocket into the top corner. Ten minutes later, Jack Morton doubled Meadowhead’s advantage with a left footed drive into the roof of the net. Although the away side did pull a goal back, Harry Grimmer instantly reinforced the two goal cushion to take Meadowhead 3-1 into the lead at half time.

In the second half, substitute Ben Hulton was at the thick of the action, first by winning a penalty for Ehsan Mohammed to convert, then scoring a perfectly placed header after a cross from Jack Morton.

The visitors did score a consolation goal but Meadowhead topped off a dominant performance with an outstanding 30 yard free kick from Max Fisher, to send Meadowhead confidently into Round 5 of the national cup.
