Sports Round-Up - week ending 8th March 2024

Wins, losses and congratulations - well done to everyone for their fantastic attitudes and efforts!

The ESFA cup run is over, but to win 7 games in a row, to show the character in the games we have, to stick together as a group throughout it all and to share these experiences with your friends from school is fantastic!

The win wasn't to be, we lost 6-3 to a very strong Thomas Telford. Despite going 2-0 up inside the first 10 minutes, we hit the post twice and came close a number of times. However, Thomas Telford grew into the game and ultimately took every chance they had. In the second half we looked stronger, we just couldn’t convert our chances, hitting the crossbar again. Thomas Telford goalkeeper being awarded the player of the match was well deserved and showed that the scoreline potentially didn’t reflect the game and could have been different. But fair play to Thomas Telford who moved the ball really well.

Each and every player in the squad has been a credit to the school and
we will be back stronger next year! This year we still have important games to play:
X2 league games
X1 Sheffield schools cup FINAL

Congratulations Imogen!

Last year Imogen got numerous podiums in boulder and lead across the UK, but it culminated in her becoming British Junior Lead Champion in her grade October 2023 (indoor rope climbing). This got her a spot in the GB Squad for 2024 and she has done a few training sessions with them so far. She has now attended the two GB international trial weekends in Boulder (London) & Lead (Edinburgh) and her results across the two weekends have got her into the GB Team that competes abroad. She gets to train with the seniors, including the Olympic climbing athletes which is very exciting for her!

Congratulations and well done. We are very proud of you

Well done to the Y9 Rugby team

Playing in the first of the Sheffield schools tournaments at Meadowhead, this was a great team effort playing in a triangular fixture list with all three teams scoring 8 tries each and one win each, well done Y9.

Well done Y7s and Y8s

A great day out for our Y7 and Y8 students who took part in Billy Sharp’s football tournament at Goodwin Sports Centre . It was great to see our boys and girls play as combined teams and both teams finished runners up in their leagues.

Y9/10 Girls football team are through to the Sheffield Cup Final!

After a fantastic 6-4 win vs Bradfield, the team head to the Final vs Westfield- Date TBC

The team got off to a hesitant start, being 3 goals down at half time. However, they changed it around in the second half to make it 4-4!

This took us to extra time and with 12 minutes on the clock, the girls made it 6-4 and held on till the end for the win!!

Congratulations to all the students involved who kept their heads held high and kept fighting when the playing got tough!
Their resilience was commendable!

Well done!!
