World Book Day and the Power of Reading

Books are powerful!  With reading stories, anything and anywhere is possible - travel to distant places and times, as well as jumping into someone else's life or understanding more about our own. To celebrate World Book Day on 7th March, students in Y7 enjoyed posing in front of the green screen to find out where a book might take them.

Every student was also given a special £1 World Book Day token, and in form time, Y7s watched and listened to Neil Gaiman read from his own novel 'The Graveyard Book' - all chapters are available online here:  The Graveyard Book: Chapter 1 | Read by Neil Gaiman (youtube.com).  Throughout the day, staff also shared their favourite book or current read.

Below are some of our students with their books - (we took the photos at breaktime outside, which is why most of them are wearing their coats!)
