Louise Haigh MP for Sheffield Heeley was the guest of honour at our Y11’s Record of Achievement celebration on Friday 11th May. She spoke to students with encouraging words to be courageous, support others and keep themselves open to opportunities – that it is ok not to have one clear path. Louise told everyone that she wouldn’t have believed that when she was sitting in school like this she would now be in the Houses of Parliament! She wished all our students the very best of luck in whatever path they take.

Staff and students were treated to some outstanding musical talent as students played the guitar, drums and piano as well as singing during intervals in the presentation of folders.
Mr Fowler concluded the event with a reflection on the first time we held this Record of Achievement in 1992, when our guest of honour was cosmonaut and former student, Helen Sharman. He also said that as well as himself, there are 4 other members of staff still working in school who were here when Meadowhead was opened 30 years ago. All staff and students gave Mr Fowler, who retires this year, a standing ovation as he left the hall!

We would like to thank Louise for taking time out of her busy schedule to join us on this special occasion for our Y11s and the members of staff who have taught and supported them over the last 5 years.
