Y10s Taster Days and Work Experience
Our Y10s have been busy thinking about possible futures as they went on Work Experience (4th - 8th July) and had a taster day on Wednesday 13th July for either sixth form or college.
Well done to all Y10 students on work experience last week - we have had so much great feedback about you all! Our thanks go to all employers and local businesses who offered a placement, including Louise Haigh MP who welcomed Lisa to her office and a behind the scenes look at a busy MP's office.
We also had Y10 students who completed their work experience in school, with a comprehensive range of talks and activities to complete.
A big thank you to HEC Contracting Limited and Tracey Cooper for involving our Y10 work experience students in a Moon Buggy task.
Students used communication, team work, problem-solving and collaboration to work to specifications and build their own moon buggies. It was great to see such fantastic teamwork, engagement and design ideas from the students.
Sixth form tasters
Y10 enjoyed a fantastic day trying out potential A level and level 3 BTEC subjects. Students were able to experience our fantastic facilities for sixth form lessons including our superb sixth form building and our well-equipped specialist rooming. Feedback from students has been very positive – the only downside is the difficulty of choosing which subjects to pick, as the subjects are all really engaging!
Our experienced teaching staff were really impressed with students’ attitudes and involvement in the lessons. We are looking forward to students’ applications here at Meadowhead Sixth Form.
Y10 students enjoyed a great day out at Chesterfield College experiencing college life and learning more about a range of exciting vocational courses. Thanks to Chesterfield College for organising this taster day. We hope it will help students when they start making post-16 plans early in Y11.
