Rhythmical Mike Raps and Inspires
Our English Department was delighted to welcome Rhythmical Mike for a full day of poetry workshops with students in Y7-Y9 on Friday 28th January. Mike is a spoken word, rap and recording artist who is passionate about helping young people and the day was to show to our students that even though they might find school and English difficult, that writing and poetry is for everyone!
Mike shared his story with the class and performed his first piece of very personal poetry, before asking students to search for a song lyric that they connected with. Each workshop ended with a form poem read by Mike and volunteers - a truly inspiring and motivating day for our students.
A special thanks to our English teacher Miss Simms, for all her time and effort in the planning and preparation that went into bringing the day to fruition.
