Pearson Falcons retain Cook Shield, while Douglass North Stars win third Sports Day Cup in four years

We were delighted to welcome Ken Cook CBE, Meadowhead’s first headteacher, to the assembly hall on Thursday 17th July 2025 to lead the presentations of the Cook Shield and the Sports Day Cups. Mr Cook was first appointed deputy headteacher to our predecessor school, Jordanthorpe, in 1973, and then as headteacher led the process of a merger to create Meadowhead in the late 1980s.
This year, the shield that bears Mr Cook’s name was retained by Pearson Falcons who achieved the best overall conduct score of over 44,000 during the academic year.
In the same ceremony, the Douglass North Stars captains were presented with the Sports Day Cup for the third time in four years.
The North Stars also won the Sports Day shields in Y8 and Y9, while the Sharman Rockets won in Y7. Thanks to all students for their positive contributions to their house on Sports Day and their good conduct throughout the academic year.
