Pop Maths Quiz

On Saturday 7th March we took 23 students from Years 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13 to the annual Pop Maths competition at Sheffield Hallam University.

Students competed in teams of up to 6 students in a Mathematical quiz with the winning teams in each age group taking home a trophy and the bragging rights for another year.

The students all did incredibly well, especially our Y11, Y12 and Y13 teams who all scored close to full marks but sadly this was not our year.

We hope that our teams will be willing to try again next year and have another crack at bringing home the silverware! Well done to everyone involved and thank you for giving up your Saturday to come along.

"Representing the Y12s, I thoroughly enjoyed the friendly yet competitive nature of the event. Some of the questions were very challenging though my team had no problem working through most of them. These questions varied from geometry to mechanics to numerics. In the end, we got 17/20, a brilliant score that was sadly topped by four other teams, being awarded fifth place."  Zach, 12A

"It was a nice day out with my friends. Even though I did not get to see all of the University, it was still bigger than I thought it would be. The questions were quite tricky but manageable. It was a good opportunity and I would like to go back next year."   Eva, 8J
