The timetable for the first Year 8 Assessment Week in the academic year 2025-26 is published below, to support you and your child in preparing for these assessments.

A 55-minute assessment covering topics studied since the beginning of Y8. Non-calculator. A revision list will be shared with students and parents before the assessment. |

Science |
40 min assessment on: Digestion, Breathing, Types of forces, Thermal energy, elements, Periodic table |

History |
A 50-minute assessment covering the Tudors and the Power of the Monarchy in the Renaissance. Use the Knowledge Organisers for each topic to revise. Students will complete: • Multiple choice knowledge questions (20 marks) • Key words (10 marks) • Key dates (10 marks) • Description questions (4 marks) • Explanation questions (8 marks) |

Geography |
A 45-minute written paper Section A – Key definitions from units studied in Y7 & Y8 Section B – Short answer questions closed and open questions testing knowledge and understanding. There will be one longer extended writing question and one skills question (graph/map/photograph/numeracy) for each topic.

German |
A reading and grammar test mainly based on My Town and Berlin topics. There will be some retrieval of Y7 knowledge included Assessment will last 30 mins Students should use knowledge organisers to revise. |

French |
A reading and grammar test mainly based on My Town and Paris topics. There will be some retrieval of Y7 knowledge included Assessment will last 30 mins Students should use knowledge organisers to revise. |

Spanish |
A reading and grammar test mainly based on My Town and Barcelona topics. There will be some retrieval of Y7 knowledge included Assessment will last 30 mins Students should use knowledge organisers to revise. |

Music/ Drama |
You will be assessed on the unit you are currently studying. The assessment will take place in your Drama / Music lesson. In Music you will complete a 30-minute listening assessment. |

Ethics |
A 40-minute assessment covering The Equality Act and Inclusivity topic. Section A – 10 keyword/knowledge questions Section B- You will be asked to apply your knowledge to 2 scenarios |
