Our Vision

The vision for the department is to deliver a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum across all key stages.

Through the BTEC Enterprise Level 1/2 Tech Award, students develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to succeed in a rapidly changing digital and business-focused economy. 

Students are encouraged to become confident, active and creative participants, applying enterprise skills such as problem solving, teamwork, communication and innovation to real-world contexts.

Subject Summary

The BTEC Enterprise Level 1/2 Tech Award is structured around three key components that develop students’ understanding of enterprise and business practice.

• In Component 1, Exploring Enterprises, learners investigate different types of businesses, the characteristics and skills of successful entrepreneurs, the purpose of market research, and the factors that contribute to enterprise success.
• Component 2, Planning and Presenting a Micro-Enterprise Idea, enables students to generate, plan and pitch their own business ideas, developing essential planning, communication and presentation skills.
• Component 3, Marketing and Finance for Enterprise, builds learners’ understanding of marketing approaches, including push and pull strategies, alongside financial literacy, budgeting and profit, and is assessed through an external examination.
