Meadowhead Sixth Form’s largest ever cohort achieves its best ever A Level results

Students hugging after getting their a level results

On Thursday14th August Meadowhead’s Sixth Formers received results that are on course to be the best ever in both attainment and progress.

On an incredibly positive morning, students and their families joined Meadowhead staff to open their results. The quality of the results is an incredible testament to the students’ talent, hard work and commitment, and how effectively this has combined with the support and expertise of Meadowhead’s teachers.

At A Level, the average grade rose to its highest ever level now equalling a B grade. Nearly a third of entries achieved either an A* or A grade and around 60% of entries were grade B or above. In the “gold standard” measure of at least AAB with at least 2 facilitating subjects the year group achieved the school’s highest score of 25.6% (well above the 2024 national state school average of around 17%). Across the six BTEC subjects, the average grade was again a Distinction. While the national progress figures are confirmed later in the year, internal projections and 2024 data suggests that these results would place us in the top two state Sixth Forms in South Yorkshire for progress.

The success was spread across a range of courses and subjects: 80% of students on the History course achieved a B grade or above and nearly 75% of students in Biology achieved the same feat. Results were also impressive in subjects such as English Literature, Maths, Philosophy, Physics and Sports Studies (all over 65% B and above).

We are incredibly proud of the year group and congratulate each and every student.
