Meadowhead School celebrates strong GCSE and Key Stage 4 results

Meadowhead School and Sixth Form is celebrating the achievements of its Year 11 students following the publication of this year’s GCSE and Key Stage 4 results.
The 330 students in the 2026 cohort have achieved the school’s strongest ever overall outcomes, with 75% of grades awarded at grade 4 or above and 57% at grade 5 or above. These results represent a significant achievement for the school and reflect the hard work, commitment and determination of students throughout their secondary education.
There has also been a positive improvement in the proportion of students achieving the key English and mathematics measures. 67% of students achieved grade 4 or above in both English and mathematics, while over 50% achieved the stronger grade 5 standard in both subjects.
Students have also performed strongly across a wide range of individual subjects. Particularly strong grade 5 or above outcomes include French (90%), German (87%), Spanish (87%), Biology (85%), Chemistry (88%), Physics (87%) and Sport Studies (88%).
There have been exceptional results in the Applied courses too with over a third of the students achieving Distinction*or Distinction in Dance, Health and Social Care and Sport. These outstanding results highlight the breadth and quality of achievement across the curriculum.

Mrs Kam Grewal-Joy, Headteacher, said:
“We are extremely proud of the achievements of our Year 11 students. These are the best overall GCSE outcomes Meadowhead has ever achieved and are a wonderful reflection of the hard work, determination and resilience shown by our students.
“It is particularly pleasing to see continued improvement in our key measures, including the proportion of students achieving strong and standard passes in English and mathematics. These results demonstrate the commitment of our students, staff and families, and the strength of the support provided throughout the students’ secondary education.
“Behind every result is an individual student with their own ambitions, challenges and achievements. We are delighted that so many of our students have secured the grades they need to take their next steps and pursue their aspirations.
“I would like to congratulate every member of the class of 2026 and thank our dedicated staff, parents and carers for the important part they have played in supporting our students. We wish all of our Year 11 students every success as they move on to sixth form, further education, apprenticeships, employment and other opportunities.”
The school is particularly proud of the breadth of achievement across the cohort, with strong outcomes achieved across academic, creative, technical and vocational subjects.
These results provide a strong platform for students as they take their next steps beyond Meadowhead. The school wishes all members of the 2026 Year 11 cohort every success for the future.
