On Wednesday 15^th July, the school’s annual Make a Difference awards celebrated the success of its renowned Phoenix athletes and teams.

The following winners were recognised in the sporting categories:

• Team of the Year (male) was won by Y9 boys football for their success in the national cup and winning the Sheffield Cup for a second time
• Team of the Year (female) was won by the girls football scholarship for their comprehensive league victory
• Performance in team sport (male) was won by netminder Joel R from ice hockey who plays for his age group’s Great Britain side
• Performance in a team sport (female) was shared by Lola J (cricket) and Annabelle D (netball) for fantastic seasons and stepping up to regional level
• Performance in an individual sport (male) was won by Velscott K for his breakthrough year in athletics for 100m and 200m
• Performance in an individual sport (female) was shared by Chloe W (golf) and Evony R (figure skating) who both have achieved new levels in recent competitions

The ceremony also recognised the success of a large number of Meadowhead students who have achieved representative honours at district, regional or national level through the bronze, silver and gold Phoenix badges.

A huge well done to all the winners and those shortlisted for their fantastic achievements.

On Wednesday 15^th July, the school’s annual Make a Difference awards celebrated the success of its talented artists, writers, musicians and performers. The creative arts are such an important part of our school’s culture and the evening was a wonderful opportunity to mark outstanding achievements.

The following winners were recognised in the artistic categories:

• Outstanding performance in dance, drama or music (male) was won by Charles B for his achievements with the clarinet and saxophone
• Outstanding performance in dance, drama or music (male) was won by Asha C for playing Elle Woods in the school’s production of Legally Blonde and her wonderful contributions more broadly to the performing arts
• Outstanding group performance was shared between the Delta Nus from Legally Blonde (Charlotte, Elsa, Holly) and the production’s band (Hayden, Charles, Henry, Zach, Izzy).
• The performing arts faculty’s woodwind and brass groups also won by student group of the year for their success which culminated in their first public concert.
• Outstanding new text or artwork was shared between Lyra R for her excellent Flame article on the debate over the display of flags that won an award at the national SHINE awards and Anya B for her wonderful mixed media piece depicting the outside of house in France that achieved success in the Sheffield Young Artists competition

On Wednesday 15^th July, the school’s annual Make a Difference awards celebrated the success of its student leaders, community organisers, and fundraisers. It was a wonderful evening where families joined staff and students in the assembly hall for the awarding of prizes.

The following winners were recognised in the leadership categories:

• Will M won Mentor of the Year for his exceptional work as a mentor of a younger student
• Eliza L won Fundraiser of the Year for running 100,000m for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation in memory of her grandad
• Riley O’K won Representative of the Year for his excellent term in office as Sixth Form student president
• Eliza B won Community Difference Maker for her remarkable service and leadership to the 148^th (St James, Norton) Sheffield Brownies.
• The award for Social Action of the Year was won by a group of Y9s for their work on intergenerational loneliness (Maisie, Harriet, Darcie, Thomas, Aelfwynn and Eliana).
• Nikoloz G won outstanding contribution to an after-school club for his work in leading the Tabletop and Warhammer Club
