At the end of the spring term all Y10 students (approx. 330 annually) participate in mock business interviews designed to give pupils a real experience of a real life job interview.
Students are expected to apply for an office assistant role by filling in an application form and completing a competencies document which demonstrates the skills and attributes of the pupil.
Students are then matched with employers representing businesses and institutions around Sheffield and interviews are arranged.
All Y10 students research and prepare for the interview itself and undergo a 30 minute long interview process. At the end of the interview each student receives instant written and verbal feedback from the process by the guest interviewer. Depending on their level of success they achieve either a platinum, gold, silver or bronze certificate.
Some of our Y10 students have even secured real job interviews, Apprenticeship offers or work experience placement offers on the back of a successful mock interview with a local employer so it is essential that students take this process seriously and make the most of this valuable opportunity as you never know what it could lead to!
