On this page there is information about where children and families can get support. We are here to help so please let you child’s year team know if you have any concerns.
CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services)
Young people can make an appointed to see their GP on their own and there is no minimum age that they need to be.
What support is offered will depend on each individual and there are different types of medication and therapies. These can include CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), Group Therapy, Art Therapy, and Counselling.

There is so much information on the internet that it can be overwhelming, so we have put together some helpful links.
A note about websites – be careful that the websites/forums you go on aren’t ones that are encouraging negative or self destructive behaviour in others – the best known of these are pro-ana (anorexia nervosa) and pro-mia (bulimia nervosa).

Door 43 Wellbeing support line
Young people in Sheffield aged 12 – 18 can now access support with issues such as low mood and anxious thoughts by calling 0808 275 8892. The support line is open Monday – Friday 5pm – 9pm and Saturday 9am – 9pm.
The helpline is run by emotional health and wellbeing practitioners who are part of the Door 43 wellbeing service at Sheffield Futures.
The team can speak to young people who might be struggling with challenges such as the current changes due to COVID-19, exam stress, relationship issues, bullying or feelings of loneliness and isolation.
Comforts, advises and protects children 24 hours a day and offers free confidential counselling.

Talk-to-frank (friendly, confidential, drugs advice) for you or someone else - information on different types of drugs, the effect they have on the body, live chat/ helpline, advice and information on what to do if you're worried about a friend.

SAYiT (Sheila Amos Youth Trust)
Sheffield based charity supporting young people. They run groups for LGBT young people (under 18s, 18-25s) and also for parents of trans young people.
Saneline (6pm – 11pm) – 08457678000 offers practical info, crisis care and emotional support to people with mental health problems.
24 hour confidential listening and support for anyone who needs it. (Adults included.)
