Match Report October 10th

Y9 V Hemsworth National Cup

Star Player - Frazer Russell

Although we were delayed by over an hour, this had no effect on the hungry Y9 boys who, from the kick off, were winning all the first, second and third balls; flying into challenges and causing plenty of early warning signs that they were in the mood to win.

The deadlock was broken by Ehsan Mohammed when he controlled the ball with his back to goal and fired a left footed shot into the keeper’s bottom right corner.

From then on, Meadowhead were dominant. By half time, we were 5-0 up thanks to a long range drive from Caelen Bradley; a well finished one-on-one by Louis Hutchinson; a superb curling left footed effort by Frazer Russell into the top corner and a powerful shot by Aaron Mushet which the keeper was unable to handle.

Mr Allen didn’t have a bad word to say at half time and the introduction of more substitutes offered equally as much talent and ability as the starting line up.

After a goal-line scrap, the visitors, Hemsworth, did pull a consolation goal back but the game was never in doubt and Jack Morton finished the job off with a towering bullet header at the back post in the pouring rain.

As the referee blew for full time, Meadowhead progressed into the second round of the national cup and the first of their many steps to hopefully claim the ESFA schools cup.
