"It's not ok" - play and workshop for Y7s
On Wednesday and Thursday 7th & 8th March, we welcomed York St John’s Theatre Company who put on a 25 minute play “It’s not ok” for our Y7 students, raising awareness of online safety, grooming and sexual exploitation through the eyes of 4 young characters as they went through their experiences of family life, relationships and on-line gaming.
On Wednesday and Thursday 7th & 8th March, we welcomed York St John’s Theatre Company who put on a 25 minute play “It’s not ok” for our Y7 students, raising awareness of online safety, grooming and sexual exploitation through the eyes of 4 young characters as they went through their experiences of family life, relationships and on-line gaming.
The play was followed by a discussion with our students who shared their understanding of the characters, with support from a member of the NSPCC to explain exactly what is meant by the terminology that arose. Our students then broke into groups for drama workshops to further explore the characters, the issues, thoughts and responses.
The play and workshops have been devised by York St John’s theatre lecturers, students and alumni and we would like to thank them and the NSPCC for this powerful and important visit. #YSJ #NSPCC
