Over February half term the Geography department had the Iceland privilege of taking 15 of our A-Level students to Iceland. We packed a huge amount into the short time that we were there, in total visiting over 27 sites or different places! It was an opportunity to see spectacular natural landforms and understand how complex systems and processes operate in real life.

Highlights of the visit included:

A tour of the Golden Triangle, including Thinvellir, Geysir and Gulfoss.

An exploration of the South Shore including the spectacular coastal landforms of Reynishverfi & Dryhoelay , as well as the dramatic waterfalls of Skogafoss and Seljalandfoss!

The bubbling mud pools and steaming hot springs of the Reykjanes Peninsula & Hervergadi with time for a therapeutic dip in the Secret Lagoon!

Exploring the sites of Reykjavik, Selfoss and Northern Light hunting!!
